🏄‍♂️ Just Start.

"Just start". That’s my advice and first blog post. It appears to be simple, but is not. This post is intended to inspire anyone who wants to get started.

A bit about me

Ever since I was young, I've been drawn to the world of entrepreneurship. The idea of building something from scratch and seeing it grow and thrive has always been incredibly appealing to me.

As a kid, I was always drawn to problem-solving and hands-on activities, whether it was playing with LEGOs or tinkering with computers. This passion for getting things done eventually led me to study computer science, and it's a passion that has stayed with me throughout my career.

San Francisco

About three months ago, I finally decided to leave my 9 to 5 job to pursue my dream of starting my own company.

Leaving my job and jumping into the world of startups wasn't an easy decision. It required a lot of courage and a willingness to take a risk, but I knew it was something I had to do. And so, armed with a passion for AI and a desire to make a difference, I decided to take a two-month trip to San Francisco to explore the startup scene there and answer the question, "Is being an entrepreneur really what I want to do in my life?”

The experience in San Francisco was incredible. I met many talented and like-minded entrepreneurs, now friends, and shared some unforgettable moments together. I'll be sure to write more about my time in San Francisco in future blog posts.

If you are wondering, the answer was a strong yes.

Writing online

I used to be afraid of writing online because I wasn't particularly good at it in school and I was concerned about what other people would think. I worried about making spelling mistakes, having uninteresting content, or saying something stupid or wrong.

In my last days in San Francisco, I realized that one of the biggest mistakes I was making was not writing about my story. I had just left my job to pursue my dream, and I'm sure that there are thousands of other people and wanna-be entrepreneurs who would want to do the same. I finally made the decision to put myself online, starting now.

Unknown

The only thing I know for sure is that I don’t know.
I don’t know if Grandmaster AI will succeed and in which terms.
I don’t know who is gonna be my co-founder.
I don’t know where I will incorporate the company, whether Switzerland, the United States, or another country.
I don’t know if I will bootstrap or look for venture capital money.

I will follow Mark Manson advice as he write’s in his book “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k” and will embrace uncertainty and will taks risks.

Just start.

No matter what your goal is, the only way to make it happen is by starting.

“A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step”. Start small.

“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.” Start now. I have waited 27 years of my life before deciding to write a blog post. Is never too late. Just start.

The stats

One of the challenging things about getting started is that looking around and comparing ourselves to external factors can be demoralizing. But the key is to remember that every big project started with a single step, and that even companies like Google were once just ideas in a garage.

Here are the stats, at the time of writing:

Number of employees: 1
Market capitalization: 0 USD
Number of monthly users: 0
Number of GitHub stars: 0

Backstage

The goal of the blog will be to provide a behind-the-sceene of my experience opening a startup. The format is still unclear and will adapt it along the way. As of now, I am writing it for me, and for my future self, and eventually future grandchildren.

It will be a mix of personal experience, entrepreneruship advices and technical articles about software engineering and machine learning.

What’s next

My goal for the foresable future is clear: make Grandmaster AI a success. The two next milestones are forming the funding team and looking for early fundings. I will write about that in the next episodes.

Now is your time

I have done it: I left my job, went to San Francisco, and now I am living my dream: opening a tech startup. Here is my advice: do the same. Do what you love.

There is no better time than now, beginning of 2023, to start following your dreams.
